What operating system (os) should I use for my TeamSpeak 3 server?

We are able to block all attacks to our server through several different factors. Not just the DDoS protection but also our very powerful servers. Due to the fact that we use ulrta vast NVMe drives which are usually quite literally over 300 times faster than your normal server hard drives.

Since we use the latest drives and we build them in a redundant way this means they are quite expensive especially for the size. So, except for the high costs of ipv4 addresses, disk space is the most stressed and scarce resource on your server. For that reason we suggest installing one of the operating systems with the lowest footprint. We have done some tests and after installing the operating system and the updating everything to the latest versions this is how much each OS takes on your disk.

  • almalinux 9: 1.6G
  • debian 12:  1.8G
  • ubuntu 24.04: 2.8G

We suggest almalinux 9 and debian not only because those OS philosophies are more stable, but also because they take up far less space. With even our smallest servers which as of this writing is our Ts3 VPS server you have more than enough space left over to run your ts3 server indefinitely without running out of space.
